Academy Instructor - Doug Wilson, CPGA
The Diamond 'in the Ruff' Golf Learning Academy is headed up by our General Manager, Doug Wilson, a 25 year member of the Canadian Professional Golfers' Association.
Born in Scotland, the birthplace of the game of golf and raised in Paris, Ontario, Doug started his career as a golf professional at Dalmahoy Golf Club in Edinburgh. On the eve of his 21st birthday, Doug was appointed to the position of head golf professional at The Douglas Park Golf Club, a private club near Glasgow, making him at that time, the youngest head golf professional in Scotland.
While in Glasgow, Doug ventured to the Middle East in the winter months as the Teaching Professional at The Awali Golf Club in Bahrain. Since returning to Canada, Doug has been involved with such clubs as Galt Country Club, The Owen Sound Golf & Country Club and Lionhead Golf Academy.
In the winter months, he is a Professor at Georgian College in their Professional Golf Management Program and a National Facilitator for the CPGA's Teaching & Coaching Certificate Program.
As a player, Doug has won The CPGA of Ontario Assistant’s Championship, represented Ontario vs Quebec and competed in The Canadian Open. In 1992, he accomplished a rare feat of 3 holes in one in one day.
Academy Instructor - Sandra Post, LPGA
Sandra started playing golf at the age of 5. After a successful amateur career she joined the LPGA tour in 1968, the first Canadian to do so. Through her 17 years on the tour she won 8 times including a Major, the LPGA Championship, 2 unofficial events, and was consistently in the top 10 players on the money list throughout her career. In 1984 she retired from the tour and returned home to Oakville, Ontario and started the Sandra Post Golf School. Over the years, she has introduced thousands of people to golf through her Level 1 clinics and has continued to teach them through advanced clinics and private and semi-private lessons. Hundreds each year participate in the many different lessons offered. Her short game clinics are one of the favourites with her students as she imparts the knowledge that made her one of the best short game players on tour. She is not a systems teacher but works with the students individually, teaching to their strengths. She makes lessons enjoyable and her love of the game is infectious.
She has been a broadcaster for CTV, ABC, SPORTSNET AND TSN. She co-authored a book, "Sandra Post and Me" and developed two instructional videos, "Getting Started" and "Around the Green." All of her students will receive her instructional book, "Sandra Post and Me."
